While we might consider our spouses, family, friends, children, and extended relatives during disaster planning. So many people forget their pets in this critical plan to help keep you and your family safe during a natural or man-made disaster.

Disaster planning and your pets doesn’t need to be a chore. Instead, it should bring you closer to your animals. This is because you care enough to prepare them for anything that could happen in the future. Guaranteeing that you will have a loving and happy family pet even through a stressful time.

You can plan ahead for disasters even for your pet. Whether it be purchasing an extra bag of dog food once a month and storing it in your food storage or getting enough meat or canned food to include them in your meals.

Don’t forget the water! You should add enough water for your pets to survive as well. While we may all last without food for a couple weeks. It is hours or at maximum days before we begin to feel the pain without water.

Keep a spare leash and body harness for each pet. Allowing you to ensure their safety near-by you and your family. There is nothing worse then a lost family pet in a disaster, with little help to find them when everyone else is facing the same situation.
