Helping seniors and disabled in an emergency

While we sometimes consider how to take care of our families in the most basic of ways during a disaster; we seldom think about how to help seniors and the disabled in an emergency situation. During these emergency situations seniors or the disabled may have special needs that should be considered. Whether those special needs are medication, mobility, or special care; this need should be met.
If you have a senior or person with a disability in your home, extra care in planning should be taken. From evacuation, preparedness for medications or special needs; all of which should be included in your emergency planning.
Helping seniors and the disabled in an emergency may prove to be a task, but a well worthy task it is. Much like any other person, the disabled and seniors should have food rations available to them. You should include special medical supplies and medications if needed in this storage; to prevent them from going without much-needed medication during a time of emergency.
